Thermal Receipt Printers

Fast, quiet, and never out of ink.

Thermal receipt printers for checkout counters, kitchens, and service desks. They print with heat instead of ink, so there are no cartridges to replace, ever. Every model connects over USB, Ethernet, or Bluetooth and works with any POS software that supports ESC/POS, which is nearly all of them.

Buying guide

Buying receipt printers: what to know

Do thermal receipt printers need ink?

No. Thermal printers use heat-sensitive paper, so there is no ink, toner, or ribbon to buy or replace. Your only consumable is standard thermal paper rolls, which cost a few cents each and are sold everywhere.

Will a Northline receipt printer work with my POS software?

Yes, in almost every case. Our printers speak ESC/POS, the industry-standard command language supported by virtually all point-of-sale software, including Square, Toast, Clover, Shopify POS, Lightspeed, and custom systems. If your software can print receipts, it can print to a Northline printer.

What size receipt paper should I use, 58mm or 80mm?

80mm (about 3 inches) is the standard for retail and restaurant receipts and fits more content per line. 58mm (about 2 inches) suits compact counters, mobile carts, and ticket printing. If you are unsure, choose 80mm.
